Getting started

A mobile app for iPhone and Android that lets you message the person who registered a license plate in the app, without exchanging phone numbers.

Download ChatPlate from the App Store or Google Play, create an account in three guided steps and register your license plate.

Yes. The home screen offers a demo plate so you can see how a conversation works.

Yes. You can only reach people who use ChatPlate and registered the plate you search.

Account & license plates

Your name, surname, email, phone number (with country code) and a password, followed by your license plate.

Add it during sign-up, exactly as it appears on the vehicle. Check letters and numbers before saving. If the app asks you to complete a verification step, follow it.

Others see your profile name in conversations. Your phone number and email are not shown to them.

Contact support from your account email with the plate and a description. The ChatPlate team will review the case.

Messages & notifications

Text, voice messages, photos and quick-message templates.

Check that notifications for ChatPlate are allowed in your phone settings and that battery-saving modes aren’t blocking the app.

ChatPlate can’t force a reply. Avoid sending repeated messages; if it’s urgent, use other channels such as building management or local authorities.

Nobody has registered that plate in ChatPlate, so a message can’t be delivered. Check the spelling first.

Audio & video calls

Open the conversation about the plate and choose audio or video call. The other person can accept or decline.

Check that ChatPlate is allowed to use the microphone in your phone settings, that the call isn’t muted and that no other app is using the microphone.

Allow camera access for ChatPlate in your phone settings and close other apps that may be using the camera.

Calls need a stable internet connection. Move to better coverage or Wi-Fi, or switch from video to audio.

Privacy & reporting

Other ChatPlate users who search your plate can message you. You can block anyone who bothers you and report abuse.

Use the block and report options in the conversation. You can also write to support@chatplate.com; for child safety concerns, write to safety@chatplate.com.

No. ChatPlate only lets you send a message to a registered plate. It doesn’t reveal identity, address or location.

Subscriptions

Weekly (€3.99), monthly (€6.99) and yearly (€39.99). Your app store shows the final price in your currency.

In the App Store or Google Play: Subscriptions → ChatPlate → Cancel. Access continues until the end of the paid period.

Refunds follow Apple App Store or Google Play policies. ChatPlate does not process refunds directly.

Troubleshooting

Check spacing, letters that look alike (O and 0, I and 1) and that you’re typing the full plate. Update the app to the latest version.

Update to the latest version, restart your phone and check your internet connection. If it continues, contact support with your phone model and app version.

Install ChatPlate on the new phone and sign in with the same account.

Account deletion

Write to support@chatplate.com from the email address of your account and ask for deletion. See the Account deletion page for details.

No. Uninstalling removes the app from your phone, but your account remains until deletion is requested.

Cancel it in your app store. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an app store subscription.
